FAQ

How do I verify a deposit is real?

Treat a deposit as real only when halfin tells you it confirmed — through a signed webhook your backend has verified — not when a customer shows you a wallet screenshot or a block explorer shows the transaction in the mempool. The authoritative signals are invoice.paid for an invoice and balance.credited for a static address, and both fire only after the transaction has cleared the network's confirmation threshold and survived any reorg. An unconfirmed transaction can be replaced, dropped, or reorganized out of the chain, so a mempool sighting is a promise, not a payment. The rule is simple: verify the webhook signature, then act on confirmed events only.
